I have a photo of my great aunt who was married to Charles Broughton, in the photo they are visiting a hospital and Charles is wearing the robes of Lord Mayor. I was told he was Lord Mayor of Stourbridge more than once, but I can't find any records for him as Mayor. He died 1943, the photo looks like it was taken in the 1930's or 40's. Can anyone give me information about him as Mayor? Julie Perrin (Rec'd 16th July 2014)

Hello, I am seeking information about a firm that produced Teddy Bears under the name of Pixie Toy who were definately located in Stourbridge, England. I have been told that it was founded in the 1930's by two wives of glass manufacturers during hard times and initially started at home and then moved into the glassworks. I believe the company was sold in the late 1930\'s to Elizabeth Simmonds and Major Brittle (whoever they are!). Is anybody able to shed light on this company and how long they were in existence for and any available history. I believe my bear is from the 1930's. Jan Wrate (Rec'd 16th July 2014)

Please can any on help me. My mother was born in Stourbridge 1904 Ruth Clarence Godfrey. She had a brother called Ted, this could be Edwin or Edward. At 16 he went to war in France my mother was 8 and he said he would buy her a doll when he came back but sadly this did not happen. I was going to take my mother to the Somme Grave yard but bad health -cancer sadly she never went. --my mother always pulled out his large photo she had in his Army uniform plus his army badge ---The Royal Warwickshire\'s-- Now I want to go this year for my Mother`s memory and for the respect of my dear Uncle who died so young. BUT I cannot find any thing not even on your memorial nor in the war ancestry he must be some where recorded. I wonder if you could help me. I know its not much information and unfortunally I did not know my mothers address except she lived in Stourbridge. My Mother met my father and at 21 they married and moved to Harrogate I myself have cancer but I am on my way to recovery and I would feel if I can go to the Somme and lay a rose and a cross on her brothers grave stone she shall be so pleased looking down on me and I would love to see the grave stone of my dear Uncle I never met but never forget. As like mother did I pull out his photo and his hat badge on remembrance Sundays. My mother did have 2 more sisters one went to London to live the other moved to Denmark. Your website is really very interesting for researches. I write a book on a small Rolls-Royce from 1938 chassis GZR37. I now discovered that the first owner, J Homery Folkes was a Stourbridge architect and, incidentally, the architect of the car showroom on Hagley Road occupied by The Stour Valley Motor Cy. His office was on the first floor of the car showroom building. He never took delivery of the car. Finally this Rolls-Royce was sold in March 1939 to Roy Curtis Robinson (1887-1948), born in Stourbridge in 1887. He must have lived at Brindley Hall, Kinver village, most of his life and his wife also, Jessie May Robinson I try to find photos of J Homery Folkes, R.C. Robinson, his house PLUS, if possible a photo of that small Rolls-Royce and as much as possible détails concerning these persons.
If anyone can help, it would be great. Many thanks, Michel t'Kint de Roodenbeke (Rec'd 20th Dec 2013)

I am seeking knowledgable people about Stourbridge glass history. In February 1876 2 "extra rich" chandeliers of 100 candles each were inspected, judged acceptable to specification and detailed shipping instructions raised to move these magnificent and massive items to the British Embassy in Constantinople for the Ballroom. I seek Manufacturer's name etc but also if this contract made it into local newspapers and folklore. They really were huge. I would be grateful for any information however slight. New Oxfam Group in Stourbridge - your invitation to join! Oxfam Fundraising Groups are groups of like minded people who organise fun, friendly events to change the lives of some of the poorest people on the planet. Across the UK, we have over 50 groups who organise events ranging from sponsored walks and quiz nights to murder mystery events and summer balls. The one thing our groups have in common is that they really enjoy what they do - and I'm e mailing to invite you to join them too. You'll meet like-minded people, develop new skills, be part of some fantastic events and there's even the opportunity to visit one of Oxfam's projects and see the difference you make first hand. We're planning to hold our first group meeting in Stourbridge on the evening of 24th January, and at the moment, we've got five wonderful volunteers who are ready to get started. We just need a couple more people to help get the group up and running - and I was wondering whether you may be able to spare just a couple of hours a month to get involved? Whatever your talents are, there's a role for you - whether it be organising events, baking cakes or counting the cash! If you are interested in getting involved, please do let me know - either by e mail at jwills@oxfam.org.uk or by giving me a call on 07917 323 538 and we can arrange to meet up for a coffee and a chat. Or alternatively, if you aren\'t able to join the group but would like to be kept up to date with their events and activities then please do let me know. (Rec'd 17th Jan 2013)

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me whether the building of the 1st Southern General Hospital, Stourbridge Section still exists and where it is or was. A great-uncle of mine was treated there in April 1917 after being injured in France.  Did any records survive from that time?
Are there any photos available of the hospital either at that time or any other time?
Many thanks for your help. Best wishes, Rachel (Rec'd 20th June 10)
