Wollescote
Park is one of three parks given to the people by the benefactor Ernest
Stevens in 1932. The seventeenth century Wollescote Hall can be seen,
which was the local headquarters of Prince Rupert during the Civil War.
As a kid in the area it was a popular rumour there was a tunnel built
during the Civil War, leading up to Wychbury Hill, which can just be seen
a mile or so away. Has anyone else heard of this? Realistically I think
it highly unlikely! |
