The Stourbridge Lion - See also: Stourbridge Locomotives tour

Much has been written about this locomotive, largely because of its claim to fame - that it was the first steam locomotive to run on a commercial line in the United States. Built by Foster, Rastrick & Co. in 1829, the Stourbridge Lion's historic first run took place on August 8th of that year. It is now on view at the B&O Railroad Museum, Baltimore MD, on loan from The Smithsoniam Institute, Washington DC.

The Old Foundry is now fully operational as the Lion Medical Centre!

After years of campaigning it's fantastic to see the foundry fully rebuilt as a state of the art medical centre - The Lion Health Centre. It's my belief that we risked losing the building forever if it had taken another 12 months, local people have reported seeing acts of vandalism on a regular basis and fortunately the roof beams are made from cast iron rather than the more common, flammable wood.
