Stourbridge High Street, 1960

Stourbridge town centre in the 1950's and 1960's

Some of the greatest changes in any town are likely to be on the High Street, and Stourbridge is no exception. Quite a few of today's buildings in the High Street can be seen in these photos, so it's fun to try and work out where and what the shops are now. This page also has images of more than just the High Street though, it includes images of the old Turney's Leather Works, Parkfield Road, Enville Street and the bus station areas as well. Please be aware that stourbridge.com has had permission from Harry Cartwright's family to publish these images, so please respect the copyright. We will be adding many more photos over the coming weeks so keep visiting! Back...

If you have enjoyed viewing these photos or wish to use them for your own purposes please consider making an online donation on Just Giving, set up by his family to support the British Heart Foundation. Harry Cartwright sadly died at the young age of just 48. His family have granted permission for us to publish his photos so you would not be seeing them without their help. Thank you.
