I am in US, attempting to research Pritchard family roots in England. Specifically
I need information about James Pritchard, ancestors/descendants. He was born
in 1849 in Lye, Worcestershire, and may have been married to Hannah Westwood
(or Hannah Taylor) in Stourbridge in 1866.

Hi, My grandfather George Prince was born in Kingswinford on Oct. 31, 1885
to Sarah Prince. His brother, James Albert, was born in 1884. They have no
father listed. Neither brother was living with their mother and her father
in the 1891 census but are listed in the 1901 census on Barnett Lane with
their mother. Does anyone have info on this family? Thank you! Deborah

My ancestry traces back to Thomas Roberts, Governor of the New Hampshire Colony,
who was born in England in 1600 and was the son of John Roberts of Woolaston,
Co, Worcester. Prior to this, my ancestry becomes uncertain. In \"The
Visitation of Huntingdonshire (1613)\" published by the Camden Society
in London (1849), there is a reference to a \"John Roberts of Wolastone\"
in the pedigree of the \"ap Rhese\" family. John Roberts was said
to be the first husband of Cassandra ap Rhese. This John Roberts could possibly
be an ancestor (possibly the father, most likely the grandfather) of Thomas
Roberts. I am looking for any suggestions or information on how to look investigate
this further. I will be in England in late June for business, and I am trying
to arrange a day in Stourbridge to do further research. Any suggestions would
be apprecciated. David M (Rec'd 6th

I live in Queensland,
Australia and my great-grandfather was Edward Thaddeus GREEN who established
a cattle station at Georgetown, Queensland which he named "Prestwood".
We suspected that he originated in Wollaston, Stourbridge (mid 1800s) and
Prestwood confirms this. His father was Edward Michael GREEN and he married
an Elizabeth EGGINGTON but I cannot find any definitive sources to confirm
the family connections. Could anyone help please - I am new to genealogy and
would appreciated any help to enable me to research further and fill in the
gaps. Thank you, Rohan Weirman [email protected]

Hello,
I am trying to establish a link with the Dumbarton Glassworks, owned by John
and then Jacob Dixon. I think James Creelman, the pottery owner was involved
in the initial purchase around the time of Dunlop and Houston, and James Christie
managed them at various stages. They may have owned Verreville to begin with.
Dixon died in 1831, the day before his father- also Jacob- died. There is
some anecdotal comment that the Dixons were related to the De Hennezaels,
who were great Huguenot glassmakers, who changed their names to Henzy or even
Emsall. They started glassmaking in Sussex and then moved to Stourbridge.
I can only find the marriage of Jonathan Dixon to Mary Henzy in the college
Worcester in 1737. Jonathan was from Kidderminster and may have been a Quaker
or Methodist. Again, there is some talk of the Dixons being involved with
the Garrison Pottery- Dixon, Austin and Co in Stourbridge. My ancestor, Anthony,
certainly came to work in Birmingham and Wolverhampton as a glasscutter once
the Dumbarton Glassworks had closed. Does anyone out there have a link to
connect these two areas? Many thanks,
Marion Bond- 8th great- granddaughter of John Dickson- sic Dixon, owner of
the D. Glassworks and uncle of William Dixon, Scotland’s foremost ironmaster.

Hi, My name is Tanya and I writing this as a call for help all the way from
New Zealand. I am researching the Allen Family and have got back to our 4th
great grandparents. William Allen: born 1801 and Mary ? born 1798 both in
the Stourbridge Area. In 1841 they lived at Baldwins Green, Old Swinford,
Stourbridge. Also at the same address was William's Father - Thomas: born
1771 (we know nothing more out Thomas). In the 1851 census Thomas had passed
(they were living at Waste Bank, Stourbridge) and the records show that Mary
was blind. There Children were: William, Thomas, Susan, Eliza, Mary, Henry,
Mercy, Jane. Does anyone know where or how, all the way from the NZ, I could
find out where Thomas, Mary, William might be buried and what year (we believe
Thomas passed away between 1851 to 1851, William passed between 1861 to 1871,
Mary between 1851 to 1861) and when & where they got married (we think
around 1820 to 1826) as we do not have Mary's maiden name, or Thomas's Wife
Name (my 4th great grandmother). Any advice on helping with my quest would
be ever so grateful. Kind Regards - Tanya

Hi, I am writing
to you in hope that you will be able to help me find out more information
about my Great Grandmother. I know that she was born in Stourbridge, Worchestershire
and that it was around 1882 to 1884. Her name was Ada Smith on her marriage
certificate but on her death certificate it is Edith Dupree (Dupree being
her married name). I have details of the census records for 1901 with her
being known as Ada Dupree and the 1911 census she is also known as Ada Dupree.
My Grandmother Edith Cunningham (nee Dupree) celebrated her 100th Birthday
last year April and it then came out that her mother was of mixed race but
it was kept a family secret all these years and we are now all intreged as
to what race my Great Grandmother was exactly and as my Grandmother passed
away in November we never got much more information than her saying her mother
was her mother no matter what her race. Is there a person that can help me
trace the information? I live in Hertfordshire and have two children to care
for and dont drive so I am willing to pay someone that is trustworthy to do
this research for me.
I look forward to hearing from you soon,Yours sincerely, Juliet

I am looking for records
of the Thomas Windmill or Wemmell family at Stourbridge. Thomas Windmill died
in a factory explosion in 1863. His wife, Maria, and three sons Harry, Thomas
Jr. and Richard were in the Stourbridge Workhouse following the death of Thomas
Sr. I would like to know if you have records showing this family was there.
Richard, one of the sons is our grandfather. He came to the United States
in 1882 using the name Wemmell. But the family names and correct dates and
places indicate a family named Windmill. I have been trying to search web
sites but have found it too complicated to find specific names. Your
help/advice would be most appreciated. Boone White in Oregon, USA. Boone

My name is Susie and I live in Minnesota USA... I am looking
for any information on my Great-Grandfather's family. His name was Charles
Arthur GROVE, born April, 1870 in Stourbridge. His mother was Ann BATEMAN,
b. 1844 in Stourbridge, and his father's name was Tom GROVE. I know
nothing about Tom other than in the 1881 census, Ann or "Annie"
Grove is listed as a widow. Family lore also says that Tom ran
off to America and that she wasn't really a widow. My G-Grandfather
emigrated to the US in the 1890s, supposedly to try and find his father, but
I don't know that it ever happened. Tom GROVE is a mystery man.
Ann BATEMAN's father was Richard BATEMAN and he owned the Garibaldi pub on
Cross Street, which I believe is still in Stourbridge, although, I don't know
if it is the same building in the late 1800s. Any information on the
GROVE and BATEMAN families of Stourbridge is appreciated.

My grandparents are Maggie Thomason and Thomas Punfield, married in
1905. The 1911 census has their four year old daughter, also Maggie
living with her grandparents George and Emily Thomason at The Dial
Inn, High Street, Amblecote, Stourbridge but nothing on Maggie and Thomas
Punfield. Thomas joined the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in March of
1915 so obviously he was in Canada but I can't seem to find anything on Maggie

I also understand that at one time George and Emily Thomason either owned
or operated the Britannia Inn High St. Any information /advise at all would
